Talbot Embedded is a cohort-based pathway within the Master of Arts in Christian Ministry and Leadership (Ministry & Leadership) and Master of Divinity (Pastoral and General Ministries) programs. Designed for active ministry leaders, it offers the depth of Talbot’s theological training within a community of peers walking the same journey. Each semester combines online coursework with a three-day, in-person gathering in San Diego or Seattle, creating a rhythm of learning that is both flexible and deeply relational.

Students complete most coursework online, then gather in person for a three-day intensive with professors and classmates in San Diego or Seattle.
How is Talbot Embedded different from Talbot’s fully online or on-campus degrees?
Unlike the fully online option, Talbot Embedded is cohort-based and includes required in-person gatherings to build deeper relationships and spiritual formation. Unlike the fully on-campus program in La Mirada, you don’t need to relocate — you stay rooted in your current ministry context.
Who is Talbot Embedded designed for?
Talbot Embedded is designed for ministry leaders, pastors and church members who want advanced training, while continuing to serve in their local church or parachurch organization.
Do I have to live in Southern California to participate?
No, you only need to be able to travel to the designated location (San Diego or Seattle) once per semester for the three-day in-person session.
Are Talbot Embedded programs fully accredited?
Yes, this is the same accredited M.A. in Christian Ministry and Leadership (Ministry & Leadership) degree or M.Div. (Pastoral and General Ministries) degree offered through Talbot School of Theology.
Will I receive the same academic quality as other Talbot students?
